On 12 December 2022, Sam Bankman-Fried got arrested. Sam was arrested shortly after 6 p.m. at his apartment complex in the Albany resort in the Bahamas, The timing of when Mr. Bankman-Fried could've been a trigger to a few actions. While the Bahamas has an extradition treaty with the United States, the process can take weeks, and sometimes far longer if a criminal defendant contests it. During Sam's stay in arrest, he constantly asked for a picture of Caroline, and a soap bar.

A year after Sam Bankman-Fried got arrested, a mysterious token named "BONK", made by a few UK government officials who teamed up with wealthy anonymous Chinese individuals who had a special grudge to Sam, surged from a couple millions of market cap to a couple billion, a 1000x gain to essentially mock Sam while he's in jail, "memefying" his chain, his beloved creation, after liquidating him and taking everything away.

The decision to create SOAP, a memecoin representing Sam's soap in prison, with his little piece of hair on it — was inevitable.
